When learners enter the Doctor of Management in Community College Policy & Administration program at University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), they join a cohort built on shared purpose and support. For Barbie Palacios, the experience has been transformative.
"Over the past three years, this cohort has pushed one another to think deeper, lead better, and stay grounded in purpose. As we enter the final stretch of our dissertations, I'm grateful to be part of a wonderful group committed to meaningful work in higher education," she said.
Palacios, who currently serves as UMGC's assistant director of Europe and Downrange Programs in Germany, expressed her sincere thanks to program faculty for their "mentorship and steady support throughout this journey."
Portfolio director and collegiate professor Rey Garcia, PhD, said the most recent residency underscored that sense of community. "The energy and commitment our doctoral students brought to the weekend residency experience has filled me and our faculty with hope for the future of the community college enterprise," he said.
The three-year, 54-credit program is designed for higher education professionals who want to advance their leadership and shape student-centered initiatives in their institutions.
Applications for the next cohort are open until June 30, 2026.
Due to regional restrictions, the Community College Policy & Administration Track is not available to Maryland residents. Please email Monica Graham if you have questions about the program.
