St. John Properties Promotes Tom Nelson to Senior Vice President, Interior Construction

BALTIMORE, MD - St. John Properties, Inc. a Baltimore-based, vertically-integrated commercial real estate development company, has promoted Tom Nelson to Senior Vice President, Interior Construction. Formerly Vice President, Interior Construction, Nelson has worked with the company since 2009 and has more than 25 years of construction management experience.

In his continuing role with the company, Nelson has daily oversight of St. John Properties' Interior Construction department, which consists of 15 project managers, superintendents, coordinators, and supporting field staff. His responsibilities include directing his team, together with third-party subcontractors, to achieve successful outcomes for tenant build-out activities across the company's Maryland area portfolio. Nelson directs the jurisdictional permitting process, coordinates all construction activities with the in-house Leasing and Interior Design departments, and establishes budgets that satisfy project scopes for each assignment.

Nelson helped create St. John Properties' signature "Client Care" program, as an opportunity for St. John Properties interior designers and interior construction project managers to help improve tenants' spaces even after they've moved in. His team manages projects to ensure their space grows alongside their business. Since its launch, "Client Care" has completed more than 3,000 projects.

Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture with a concentration in Urban Studies and City Planning from Columbia University, where he was also a member of the Division I football team. He is an active member of the Urban Land Institute and CREDA Maryland (Commercial Real Estate Development Association), and longtime youth football and basketball coach.
