Portland, OR - Ahead of tonight's national address, where Donald Trump is expected to ramp up his attacks on free and fair elections, Republican candidate for governor Christine Drazan continues to push a similar agenda in Oregon, despite a total lack of evidence that Oregon's elections are anything but safe and secure.

Similar to Trump, Drazan's extreme record on attacking Oregon's elections includes:

  • In 2025, Drazan introduced legislation that would completely upend Oregon's voting system, establishing in-person voting as the default method, despite nearly 30 years of safe and reliable elections held primarily by mail-in ballots.
  • That same year, Drazan sponsored a bill that would prohibit friends, roommates, or family members from dropping off a ballot on someone's behalf.
  • Drazan also opposed a bill to make voter pamphlet materials available in other languages.
  • Alarmingly, Drazan also voted against allowing mail-in ballots that are postmarked by Election Day, but arrive after, to be counted, positioning herself as further to the right than Donald Trump's Supreme Court.

Oregon voters deserve to know: why does Drazan continue to pander to election deniers by attacking Oregon's elections?

"The Democratic Party of Oregon is calling on Christine Drazan to commit to standing up to any attacks on Oregonians' ability to vote by mail," said Democratic Party of Oregon Executive Director Candy Emmons. "As we approach November, the stakes could not be clearer: Christine Drazan's record paints the picture of a MAGA extremist who has consistently pushed policies to suppress voters that even members of her own party wouldn't support. Vote by mail has served generations of Oregon voters and is trusted across our state. Oregonians cannot accept a leader who seeks to silence their voices.
