House Moves on Permitting Reform; NMA Urges Senate Action

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The National Mining Association (NMA) released the following statement applauding House passage of the both the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act and the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development Act (SPEED) Act:

"Today the House took a huge step forward on permitting reform by passing both the Mining Regulatory Clarity Act and the SPEED Act. Now all eyes are on the Senate. Demand for minerals and metals is soaring while uncertainty and permitting delays handcuff our ability to turn our vast mineral resources into productive capacity-that should be unacceptable to anyone who cares about reducing our reliance on China for the materials needed by our manufacturing, technology and defense sectors. When Congress returns after the holidays, getting permitting reform through the Senate, including these critical bills, should be priority one."
