ATLANTA - The Georgia House of Representatives' Committee on Assignments reappointed State Representative Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta) as the Chairman of the House Higher Education Committee.
"I am honored to have the continued support of Speaker Burns and my colleagues in the House to lead the Higher Education Committee," said Rep. Martin. "I look forward to working with our members to offer Georgians the best options and opportunities as they prepare for the future."
The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington), is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
The House Higher Education Committee is responsible for legislation influencing the University System of Georgia, universities, colleges, postsecondary education and student financial aid.

Representative Chuck Martin represents the citizens of District 49, which includes a portion of Fulton County. He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2002 and currently serves as Chairman of the Higher Education Committee. He also serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education, Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications, Regulated Industries, Retirement, Rules and Ways and Means committees.
