Delco Man Indicted for Illegal Possession of Firearms, Including One Fitted With Machine Gun Conversion Device

PHILADELPHIA - United States Attorney David Metcalf announced that Kaseem Patterson, 26, of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, was charged by indictment with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a machine gun.

Patterson was taken into federal custody today and made his initial appearance in court this afternoon before U.S. Magistrate Judge Craig M. Straw.

The indictment alleges that, on or about May 11, 2026, the defendant knowingly possessed four loaded firearms, including a 9mm pistol fitted with a machine gun conversion device, intended for use in converting a semi-automatic weapon to fire automatically.

Patterson had previously been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year and was not permitted to possess a firearm or ammunition.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible term of 25 years in prison.

This case was investigated by the Tinicum Township Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Sandra Urban.

The charges and allegations contained in the indictment are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
