The City asks citizens to help respect and preserve the memorial space so it is visibly pleasant
The city of Killeen is continuing its Killeen City Cemetery cleanup this week as part of the quarterly cleanup initiative.
Four times a year, city employees remove items four times in an effort to secure, safeguard and preserve the dignity and aesthetics of the memorial grave site.
As a part of this initiative, Cemetery staff will pick up florals, flags and décor four months a year during the third full week indefinitely. Families will have 30 days to collect those items from staff before they are discarded. This practice is essential for ensuring longevity of this site.
Scheduled yearly cleanup dates include:
Unauthorized items that are removed immediately include benches, chairs, ornaments, trinkets, glass, photos, food, drinks, solar lights, borders and objects that are not secured to the headstone base.
The City of Killeen is committed to maintaining a clean, respectable and serene resting place for loved ones. We ask for the community's cooperation in keeping the cemetery orderly, beautiful and ensuring longevity. The City appreciates those helping to preserve the cemetery and keeping the appearance pleasant.
The City would also like to remind all citizens of the general cemetery rules, which are located on the website at www.KilleenTexas.gov/Cemetery. The phone number is (254) 200-7947.
