Seoul, June 5th, 2025.- As part of the Non-Reimbursable Technical Cooperation for the modernization of public transportation in San Salvador - approved with resources of the Korea-CABEI Single Donor Trust Fund (KTF) for up to US$550,000.00 - a technical mission was carried out in Korea under the Capacity Building Program, to share new knowledge and best practices in public transport management.
The mission agenda included meetings, conferences, and technical visits designed to explore Korea's rapid transportation modernization process, which has resulted in a highly developed, efficient, and punctual system that includes metro and bus lines, trains, and integrated smart card payment systems.
Among the key activities, officials visited the Bucheon Traffic Information Center, where advanced technological solutions for efficient traffic management were presented. These included services designed to enhance mobility for residents, ranging from intelligent transportation systems to real-time data analysis.
Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the operation of the Korea Train Express (KTX), one of the world's most advanced high-speed trains. This train has been a cornerstone of Korea's intercity infrastructure development, transforming connectivity between cities, reducing traffic congestion, and stimulating tourism and investment. They also learned about the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, which enhances mobility through dedicated lanes and increased passenger capacity.
Through this non-reimbursable technical cooperation, CABEI, with the support of the Republic of Korea, reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development and facilitating experiences that improve urban mobility in El Salvador, promoting the exchange of successful practices and the implementation of solutions tailored to local realities.
