Pedestrian Killed in Hit and Run NR25010kt

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's Central Traffic Division detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying the driver of a van that struck an 87-year-old woman, killing her.

On January 13, 2025, around 6:50 p.m., the victim was walking westbound in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Berkeley Avenue and Allesandro Street, when she was struck by a dark-colored Ford Transit van traveling southbound on Allesandro Street.

The driver of the van fled the scene without stopping to render aid or identify themselves. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the location, but despite their efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department reminds the public to drive safely and responsibly. In the event of a traffic collision, motorists are required to stop, check on all parties involved, and request paramedics if medical attention is needed. Providing contact information is essential to ensure accountability and avoid turning a traffic incident into a criminal offense.

As a reminder, on April 15, 2015, the Los Angeles City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code to create the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of hit-and-run offenders, or resolution of such cases through civil compromise.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Investigator M. Figueroa, Serial No. 34332, Central Traffic Detectives, at (213) 833-3713 or via email at [email protected].
