The KT&G Welfare Foundation held a completion ceremony on Sep. 10 to celebrate the remodeling of Tu Quan Primary School in Tuyen Quang Province, northern Vietnam.
Home to more than 750 students, Tu Quan Primary had suffered significant damage to its school buildings and facilities after Typhoon Yagi struck the region last year. Students were left continuing their education under unsafe and unstable conditions.
In response, the Foundation carried out a comprehensive remodeling of the damaged facilities, while also constructing five new classrooms. To ensure students could learn in a safe and comfortable environment, it provided new desks, chairs, blackboards, and replaced outdated equipment.
The completion ceremony was attended by more than 150 participants, including provincial officials, school representatives, and students, demonstrating the importance of the project to the local community.
A KT&G Welfare Foundation representative stated, "Through this project, students who had been studying in unsafe conditions after the typhoon can now learn in secure, well-equipped classrooms. We will continue to actively expand social contribution efforts for vulnerable communities worldwide."
This initiative forms part of KT&G Welfare Foundation's long-standing commitment to improving education infrastructure across the globe. Since 2018, starting with Shwedaung School in Myanmar, the Foundation has built a total of 10 schools in three countries, including the recent reconstruction of the Harapan Kasih Bangsa Primary and Secondary School in Indonesia. The Foundation also continues to dispatch university volunteer groups to regions such as Cambodia and Laos, where they share Korean culture and participate in community service, furthering its mission to expand educational opportunities in areas lacking adequate infrastructure.
