Our Work to Create Positive Video Game Spaces Where Everyone Feels Welcome

Our 2025 Transparency Report published today

February 27, 2026

Whether it's heart-pounding sports experiences or thrilling multiplayer battles, EA is proud to bring some of the most unforgettable shared moments to hundreds of millions of players every year. These experiences offer connection and friendship across borders, offering fans new ways to play, create, and watch, in, around, and beyond our video games.

As the opportunity for our players to connect grows exponentially, so too does our resolve to ensure safe and welcoming environments for all. That is what our commitment to Positive Play is all about.

Our 2025 Transparency Report, published today, provides more detail on how we ensure a safe player experience and the actions we take against content that violates our Rules of Conduct and Positive Play Charter. Before we jump into the highlights, let's take some time to understand what content we review and when.

As easy as UGC

Some of our games give players the option to enhance their play with user-generated content (UGC): for us this includes usernames, team names, text chat, voice chat, customized in-game assets, and images.

For example, in EA SPORTS FC 26, players can create a name for their player or club. In Battlefield 6, players can use in-game text or voice chat to coordinate tactics with their teammates. And in The Sims 4, players can use in-game tools to create and share a new outfit or home design for their Sim.

Our Transparency Report highlights the actions EA takes to proactively evaluate UGC before it appears or becomes part of our experiences. It also details how we review and respond to player reports of disruptive content.

Proactive, but not intrusive

Our efforts start with proactive moderation, including filtering tools to scan and block potentially illegal, offensive, or inappropriate content in real-time. We believe that all players should have a safe environment in which they feel comfortable playing the game and expressing themselves, and we consider the context and age rating of the game or service. There are some topics we won't ever allow, including hateful conduct, bullying, sexual content, and content that is inappropriate about children.

In 2025, we proactively scanned more than 49 billion text strings and more than 31 million images - and over 99% of the content was deemed acceptable. In general, EA players are creating positive UGC.

Player tools to help ensure positive play

We know that proactive moderation can't always detect the nuances of gameplay conversation, tone, or the context of creative content. Reports from our players help us learn about any disruptive content and behavior that is not blocked by proactive moderation. All EA experiences give players the option to report in-game or on EA Help. We review each report and, when confirmed, we give a penalty based on the severity of the violation. Most often, this comes in the form of a warning or temporary suspension and can include removing the content or removing access to certain or all EA Services.

In 2025, we gave 476,541 penalties for disruptive UGC. This is less than 0.1% of EA players.

Ensuring positive experiences for younger players

We want to ensure that our players feel welcome and safe, from the most experienced, seasoned gamers to our newest, younger players. We strive to empower young players and their parents to make informed gameplay choices and work closely with third-party partners and platform holders to accomplish this. This means that parents and guardians can set controls on their devices, which will be followed in our games. For example, if they turn off communication with other players in the platform parental controls, that will also turn off communications with other players in the EA game.

Many of our games will selectively disable a specific feature based on the parental controls settings. For example, if parents or guardians turn off multiplayer through parental controls, their child won't be able to access that feature in-game. Other games may switch off all online features completely.

For additional peace of mind, the EA App on PC and Mac enables parents and guardians to set playtime guidelines for weekdays and weekends and sign up to receive weekly Family Activity Reports that detail their family's play habits.

All of these tools and technologies work in tandem to better serve our communities. Our commitment to Positive Play and ensuring safe gameplay environments for all is unwavering. That's why we will continue to scale, refine, and enhance our efforts to enable the best experiences for players to play, create, and watch, in, around, and beyond our video games.
