Gilbert, AZ - The Gilbert Police Department will host a community information event on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Gilbert Police Department (75 E Civic Center Drive) from 5:30 to 7:30 PM to introduce residents to volunteer opportunities within the department.
Community members are invited to learn more about three Gilbert PD volunteer programs: Crisis Support Unit, Gilbert Citizens on Patrol, and Administrative Support. Attendees will meet program representatives, hear about responsibilities and training, and receive guidance on how to begin the application process.
"Our volunteers play a vital role in expanding community engagement and supporting essential police services," said Sherry Nielsen, Gilbert Police Support Volunteer Services. "This event is designed to help residents understand how they can get involved and make a meaningful impact."
Volunteer Eligibility Requirements:
• Administrative Support volunteers must be 18 years or older.
• Crisis Support Unit and Gilbert Citizens on Patrol volunteers must be 21 years or older.
• All applicants must successfully complete a background investigation, including fingerprinting, polygraph, and drug screening.
• Volunteers commit to eight hours of service each month for at least one year.
