UAA women tabbed 3rd in GNAC preseason poll

The Alaska Anchorage women's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the 2024-25 Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll, released Friday by the league office.

The Seawolves received 79 points in voting by the league's 10 head coaches, who narrowly picked defending GNAC Tournament champ Western Washington (91 pts/4 first-place votes) over defending regular-season champ Montana State Billings (90/5). UAA edged Central Washington (78) for fourth, while Simon Fraser (59) is picked fifth.

UAA returns two starters - senior guard Jazzpher Evans (9.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.4 apg) and junior guard Elaina Mack (7.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, .343 3FG [57-166]) - from last year's team that finished 19-9 overall and placed third in the league at 13-5. Leading scorer and rebounder Tori Hollingshead, a 6-2 senior post, also returns after averaging 12.5 ppg and 6.6 rpg a year ago.

The Seawolves debut Nov. 1-2 with home games against Simpson University at the Alaska Airlines Center.
