Chairwoman McClain Exposes How Democrats Have Failed the American People on Day 10 of Government Shutdown

WASHINGTON - House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) exposed how Democrats' dangerous actions and rhetoric are hurting the American people:

"It's Day 10 of the government shutdown and Democrats continue to inflict suffering on real Americans while catering to their increasingly radicalized base. You don't have to take it from me, either. Chuck Schumer admitted the shutdown suffering is 'working for' them. Meanwhile, a Democrat aide said it will take 'planes falling out of the sky' for this radicalized party to reopen the government. At a time when military families are preparing to miss a paycheck, families in disaster-prone areas are worried about flood insurance, and seniors remain on hold with Social Security questions, the Democrats are celebrating. Enough is enough. End the shutdown, vote for the House-passed clean CR, and open this government back up," Chairwoman McClain said.

10 ways Democrats have, and continue to, FAIL the American people:

1. All but one House Democrat voted against the House CR.

2. Senate Democrats voted against the CR on September 30, shutting down the government.

3. Senate Democrats have now voted against our troops, food assistance for moms and children, and other government services for the seventh time.

4. Democrats put forward a proposal that would result in nearly $200 billion spent on healthcare for illegal immigrants and non-citizens over the next decade.

5. After refusing to vote to reopen the government, a Democrat senator had the audacity to admit : "The point of this shutdown is not just suffering for suffering's sake, but to make a point."

6. As troops are expected to miss their first paychecks, Chuck Schumer claimed "every day gets better" for Democrats, celebrating the suffering of Americans.

7. Democrats are closely coordinating their government shutdown strategy with outside liberal groups.

8. Democrats are now saying that unless "planes are falling out of the sky" because of air traffic controller staffing shortages, they will not end their government shutdown.

9. Democrats continue to hold the government hostage despite knowing the pain it causes Americans - the height of hypocrisy. House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries himself admitted exactly how harmful a shutdown would be: "It's about the harm… Families will be hurt. Farmers will be hurt… If the government shuts down, holiday travel will be impacted. The ability of everyday Americans to visit their family, their friends, their loved ones will be impacted. Border security and border patrol agents will not be paid. TSA agents will not be paid. Small businesses will be hurt in every single community in this country." - Hakeem Jeffries

   Yet Democrats ignored their own warnings and voted to keep the government closed anyway.
