Crime Victims’ Rights Week April 6-12, 2025

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces that the New Hampshire Department of Justice will observe National Crime Victims' Rights Week from April 6-12, 2025. This year's theme, "Kinship: Connecting and Healing," highlights the essential role of human connection in a survivor's recovery. When families, communities, and law enforcement unite, healing becomes not only possible but actively supported.

Each April, National Crime Victims' Rights Week reaffirms the commitment to reducing trauma for survivors and their loved ones. National Crime Victims' Rights Week emphasizes justice and healing. This observance challenges us to foster connections-through kinship between survivors, advocates, and communities-that hold the potential to heal. Each year, millions of Americans become victims of crime, many of whom never share their experiences. When they do, we must be ready to listen, empathize, and offer support.

"While the state plays a key role in upholding the rights of all citizens, especially crime victims, it is the strength of our communities and families that has the most lasting impact. This observance reminds us that we must continue working together to ensure every survivor receives the support they need," said Attorney General Formella.

During this week, Attorney General Formella will also honor the dedicated members of the New Hampshire Department of Justice's Office of Victim/Witness Assistance and their statewide partners for their unwavering advocacy.

"As we mark this week, we honor those working tirelessly in victim services and reaffirm our shared responsibility to build a safer, stronger state," said Attorney General Formella. "By standing together in support of victims, we send a clear message that New Hampshire is committed to justice, compassion, and healing."

The Attorney General's Office of Victim/Witness Assistance provides direct services to victims in all of the State's homicide cases, as well as to victims of elder abuse or financial exploitation or other crimes that the Attorney General's Office prosecutes. This office is also tasked with developing best practice protocols, coordinating multidisciplinary victim centered initiatives, and providing trainings and resources for professionals throughout the state working with victims of crime.
