Haitian Alien Pleads Guilty to Illegally Voting in 2024 Election

MIAMI - A Haitian alien pleaded guilty Sept. 22 in federal court to falsely claiming U.S. citizenship to register to vote and casting a ballot in the 2024 general election. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services provided valuable assistance during the investigation.

According to court records, Valery Zidor, 23, of Haiti, falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen on two voter registration forms submitted to the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections. Despite not being a U.S. citizen, Zidor voted in the 2024 general election.

Zidor pleaded guilty to two counts of making a false claim of citizenship to vote and one count of voting by an alien. She faces up to five years in federal prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.

U.S. Attorney Reding Quiñones and Homeland Security Investigations Miami Special Agent in Charge José R. Figueroa made the announcement. HSI Miami is investigating the case. USCIS assisted the investigation.
