FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 17, 2025 Updated Statement on Serious Accident Involving City Employee Mount Vernon, NY - At approximately 9:45 a.m. today, while performing his duties as
a tree trimmer, a City of Mount Vernon employee was seriously injured near the intersection of 5th Avenue and 5th Street. Emergency personnel responded immediately, and the employee was
transported for urgent medical care to Jacobi Hospital. We can confirm that the employee underwent a successful surgery and remains in critical condition. The next 48 hours are crucial to his
recovery, and we continue to keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Today's response was a testament to the strength of our emergency preparedness - from training and equipment
to interagency coordination. We are proud of our first responders and city teams whose swift actions demonstrated the value of continued investment in public safety. Further updates will be shared
