DLA to host strategic materials forum

FORT BELVOIR, Va. -

Defense Logistics Agency Research and Development and DLA Acquisition will co-host a collaboration forum here Aug. 21 to mark the launch of the agency's Strategic Materials program of record.

"As DLA continues to play a vital role in managing strategic materials, this program will be instrumental in ensuring we have access to cutting edge solutions, processes and technologies," R&D Program Manager Vaibhav Jain said. "This forum will help us showcase our progress and what's to come as we address these supply chain challenges."

Sessions will include opening remarks from DLA Chief Information Officer Adarryl Roberts and DLA Acquisition Director Matt Beebe along with a keynote address from DLA Strategic Materials Director Eric Mata, highlighting program objectives and strategies to acquire critical materials and strengthen the National Defense Stockpile.

A panel of Defense Department experts highlighting whole-of-government efforts to build resilience against supply disruptions and hands-on demonstrations are expected to round out the event.

"We are excited to bring together leaders and stakeholders across DOD and our industry partners to share insights on strategic materials investments and opportunities to collaborate," DLA R&D Deputy Director Martina Johnson said.

Attendees are encouraged to register for the free event taking place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the McNamara Headquarters Complex at DLA headquarters. Participants can attend in-person or virtually. Instructions on accessing live-streamed content from the morning sessions will be provided if unable to attend onsite.
