Stay Cool, Stay Warm: Heat Pumps Demystified

October 6, 2025 - ROCHESTER, MINN. The City of Rochester is offering a free virtual workshop on the benefits of using a heat pump to heat and cool a home, as well as the practical questions to ask and resources to use when installing one. This Electrify Everything Minnesota workshop, offered in partnership with the Center for Energy and Environment, is designed to provide step-by-step guidance and connect residents with valuable resources.

Thursday, October 23, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Virtual workshop held live over Zoom.
Advanced registration is strongly encouraged, but not required.

This workshop will cover:

  • What to know about different types of heat pumps

  • How to determine the right size heat pump for your home

  • Key questions to ask contractors when comparing quotes

  • How insulation and air sealing can boost a heat pump's performance and efficiency

  • Overview of financial incentives and how combining them can lower project costs

Stay Cool, Stay Warm: Heat Pumps Demystified is session two of a three-part home electrification workshop series sponsored by the City of Rochester in partnership with the Destination Medical Center.
