Longtime Donor Ford helps Red Cross Prepare and Protect Communities

Ford Motor Company has named the American Red Cross as a national nonprofit partner in Ford Building Together, a new initiative focused on strengthening and supporting resilient local communities for future generations.

Through Ford Building Together, Ford is helping advance the Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by:

  • Donating to Disaster Relief: The Red Cross responds to more than 65,000 disasters across the country every year, providing relief, comfort and hope to people during what can be the worst days of their lives. As major disasters like wildfires, storms and hurricanes increase in frequency and intensity, donors like Ford help fuel Red Cross readiness and ensure response capacity in times of crisis.
  • Hosting Blood Drives at Ford Dealerships: This June, select Ford dealerships across the country will host Red Cross blood drives to help ensure a stable and sufficient blood supply for patients in need. To find a participating Ford dealership in your community, search the Ford Building Together map here.
  • Activating Volunteers: Ford is encouraging its employees to give back to serve with the Red Cross. These volunteers will assist in a variety of roles, including disaster response, blood services and community preparedness efforts.

Ford's support builds on a legacy that began during World War I, when Henry Ford supplied Model Ts as ambulances for the Red Cross. Today, Ford is a member of the Annual Disaster Giving program, a generous group of supporters that give in advance of disasters, helping power the Red Cross with strong infrastructure, trained volunteers, innovative technology and critical resources necessary to provide relief and support

"I'm inspired by forward-thinking Annual Disaster Giving Program members like Ford that make it possible for us to support those in need at a moment's notice," said Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. "Families are relying on the Red Cross more than ever as disasters become more frequent and intense, and generous partners like Ford help us prepare for the worst and provide relief when the unthinkable happens."
