Local Non-Profit Funds FBI-LEEDA Training for Lebanon City Police

The James Biever Police-Community Alliance (JBPCA) recently awarded $700 to the Lebanon City Police Department to support FBI-LEEDA Basic Supervisor Training for two officers. This initiative reflects the department's ongoing commitment to continuing education and professional development. Captain Eric Sims noted, "Effective police leadership training equips officers not just to enforce the law, but to inspire, lead with integrity, and build resilient, community-focused teams."

The two officers will complete their training in July, bringing the total number of Lebanon City Police officers who have received supervisory training through JBPCA funding to fourteen.

According to the FBI-LEEDA website, "The Basic and Advanced Supervisory Liability Programs are online courses that cover constitutional supervisor liability, sexual harassment, deliberate indifference, internal affairs standards, and use-of-force policies." The organization's mission is to advance the science and art of law enforcement leadership and promote the exchange of information to improve management practices through training, education, and networking among police professionals across the United States and beyond.

Sgt. Goumas of the Lebanon City Police, a past participant, found the training invaluable. He said, "I found the supervisor liability courses extremely valuable. The topics discussed have real-life application." He added, "This is information every supervisor should know. It benefits our department - and in turn, the community we serve."

The JBPCA continues to support educational opportunities for all Lebanon County police departments to foster empathy, accountability, and stronger community partnerships.
