Minister of Foreign Affairs presides over the Opening Ceremony of the Photo Exhibition Commemorating the 60th Anniversary of Thailand - Peru Diplomatic Relations
On 17 December 2025, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, co-presided the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition "Friendship in Frames: Photo Exhibition in Commemoration of 60 Years of Friendship between Thailand and Peru" together with H.E. Ms. Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán, Ambassador of Peru to Thailand, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand - Peru diplomatic relations.
The Foreign Minister highlighted the significance of the exhibition as a visual chronicle of the journey and friendship between the two nations over the past six decades. A key highlight was the display of photographs captured by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during her official visit to Peru in 2019. He reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to elevating the partnership with Peru in all dimensions, particularly the efforts to expedite the conclusion of a comprehensive Thailand - Peru Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to expand trade and investment opportunities, as well as to promote technical cooperation and people-to-people ties through cultural diplomacy.
Thailand and Peru have maintained smooth and close relations across various sectors since the establishment of diplomatic ties on 10 November 1965, reaching the 60th anniversary milestone in 2025. Currently, Peru is Thailand's 5th largest trading partner in Latin America. The continuously developing cooperation in trade, investment, technical fields, culture, and multilateral fora has resulted in tangible mutual benefits and will expand the windows of opportunity for the private sector and people, an important element in advancing a sustainable partnership between Thailand and Peru. In addition, during the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams, Peru, along with four other countries and a private entity, announced to co-sponsor the "2025 Bangkok Joint Statement by the Global Partnership against Online Scams," demonstrating Peru's resolve with Thailand to combat online scammers and cyber threats on a global scale.
