Irvine, Calif., July 14, 2025 - The University of California, Irvine Police Department has achieved the goals outlined in the 30×30 Initiative - a national effort aimed at increasing representation and improving the experiences of women in policing.

As part of its pledge to the 30×30 Initiative, UCIPD removed barriers to advancement, assessed and improved gender equity within the department, and created a culture where women officers thrive. This year, 30 percent of the department's sworn officers are women, marking a significant milestone toward ensuring the department reflects the diversity of the community it serves.

"This achievement is more than a statistic - it's a reflection of our values," said Chief Liz Griffin. "Reaching the 30×30 benchmark is the result of years of intentional effort, sustained commitment and a department-wide belief that a more inclusive and representative police force makes us stronger. We are proud to stand with agencies across the nation that are changing the face of policing."

Over the past four years, UCIPD has nearly tripled its percentage of women officers, rising from 10 percent to 30 percent. This growth aligns with broader evidence that diverse law enforcement agencies build stronger community trust and deliver better public safety outcomes.

By achieving this goal ahead of the 2030 target, UCIPD reaffirms its commitment to inclusive excellence in law enforcement. The department will continue its work to support the advancement of women at all levels of policing and to serve as a model for other agencies pursuing similar change.
