Tuskegee, Alabama - Tuskegee University will install Dr. Mark A. Brown '86 as its 10th President and Chief Executive Officer, at noon on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in the General Daniel "Chappie" James Center on the Tuskegee University campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

This milestone ceremony marks a pivotal moment in the university's 144-year legacy as Dr. Brown becomes the first Tuskegee alumnus to lead the historic land-grant institution. His tenure as president and CEO began on July 1, 2024. A retired U.S. Air Force Major General, Dr. Brown studied accounting and earned his bachelor's degree from Tuskegee in 1986. He went on to complete a Master of Public Administration from Troy University, a Master of Strategic Studies from the Air Command and Staff College, a Master of National Security Strategy from the National War College, and a Doctor of Education from Baylor University.

The Investiture Weekend will feature a series of celebratory events designed to engage and inspire the entire Tuskegee family. A Black-Tie Gala will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20. Proceeds from this signature fundraising event will support student scholarships and strengthen the university's endowment. The evening will also mark the official launch of Tuskegee University's $300 million comprehensive fundraising campaign-an ambitious initiative to ensure the institution continues to solve some of the world's most complex problems.

The Investiture Committee acknowledges the renewed enthusiasm inspired by Dr. Brown's appointment across the Tuskegee University campus and throughout the broader community. His leadership represents a historic milestone for the institution and serves as a source of pride for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters. Dr. Brown's journey from student to president stands as a testament to the enduring impact of a Tuskegee education.
