Head of the Chinese Mission to the African Union Ambassador Jiang Feng Pays a Courtesy Call on Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission

On 4 July, H.E. Amb. Jiang Feng, the new Head of Chinese Mission to the AU, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi, Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission, in the presence of Minister Zhang Wei, Senior Colonel Guo Baojian, and senior officials from AUC Cabinet of Deputy Chairperson.

Amb. Jiang thanked the leadership of the AUC for granting intensive meetings at the very beginning of his tenure, which fully reflected the great importance that the AU side attaches to the Sino-AU relationship. He said that China and Africa enjoy long and everlasting friendship. While the successful holding of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) last year has created a new historical starting point, China is willing to join hands with the AU to materialize the outcomes of the summit and build an All-Weather China-Africa Community with a Shared Future for the New Era.

H.E. Haddadi welcomed Amb. Jiang to his new post and promised to provide necessary assistance for the carrying out of his duty. She recalled the history of Africa-China friendship, congratulated the success of Beijing FOCAC Summit and its recently-held Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators. She expressed her readiness to deepen cooperation in all fields with China, and to push the relationship between Africa and China to a new level. She reiterated the AU's firm adherence to the one-China principle on Taiwan question.
