The pedestrian struck and killed in the Woodlawn Neighborhood on August 29, 2025, has been identified as 45-year-old Robert Rodriguez Jr.
The preliminary investigation suggests a pick-up truck driven by an adult female was traveling westbound on Northeast Columbia Boulevard when the vehicle struck Rodriguez. The driver immediately stopped. There were no signs of impairment observed by responding officers.

On Friday, August 29, 2025, at 4:44 a.m., officers from the North Precinct responded to a call of a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in the 500 block of Northeast Columbia Boulevard. Upon their arrival, officers found a pedestrian who was deceased. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team will respond to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Northeast Columbia Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Northeast MLK Jr. Boulevard and Northeast 11th Avenue. The closure is expected to take a couple of hours.
