The City of Boston and the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation Celebrate the Completion of Four Corners Plaza

New development created 35 income-restricted, transit-oriented homes and new retail space in Dorchester

The Mayor's Office of Housing and the Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation are pleased to announce the completion of Four Corners Plaza, a new mixed-use, transit-oriented development in Dorchester's Four Corners commercial district. The two-building project contains 35 mixed-income rental homes and more than 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space on Bowdoin Street.

"Boston's future depends on creating homes that are affordable, energy-efficient, and close to transit," said Chief Sheila Dillon. "Four Corners Plaza brings new housing opportunities for families while strengthening the neighborhood's local business district. Thank you to Codman Square NDC and all of the partners who helped make this project possible."

Of the 35 apartments, 27 are affordable to households earning up to 60% of Area Median Income (about $56,400 for an individual), and 8 are affordable to households earning up to 30% of AMI (about $28,200). Four apartments will provide permanent housing for formerly homeless residents.

Designed by DHK Architects, the development meets LEED Silver standards with energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and appliances. Located steps from the Four Corners/Geneva Station on the Fairmount Line, Four Corners Plaza expands housing close to public transit while also creating opportunities for neighborhood businesses to grow.

The project was made possible through a mix of public and private investment, including the Mayor's Office of Housing, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, federal and state tax credits, and financing from Boston Financial and Eastern Bank.

Four Corners Plaza is part of Mayor Wu's commitment to making Boston a home for everyone. To expand affordable housing citywide, the Mayor has directed new financial resources into mixed-income developments, commissioned a public land audit to maximize use of City-owned property, and streamlined approval processes to cut permitting times by more than 25 percent. She has also advanced changes to zoning and development policies, including Linkage and Inclusionary Zoning, that are helping private developers build more affordable homes. Together, these efforts, along with new projects like Four Corners Plaza, are delivering more housing opportunities for Boston residents in every neighborhood.
