NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue announced that its Chief Executive Officer Eric Wei, MD, MBA has been recognized on the list of distinguished individuals who have been named to City & State New York's annual "Asian Trailblazers" list for 2026. The list, which coincides with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrates outstanding contributions to healthcare, business, real estate, labor, social services, and advocacy. City & State New York is a media organization dedicated to covering New York's local and state politics and policy through in-depth, non-partisan coverage.

Eric Wei, MD, MBA is CEO for NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, the oldest hospital in the United States dating back to 1736. A practicing Emergency Medicine physician who has rotated through all eleven Emergency Departments in the system, Dr. Wei also serves as Senior Vice President for NYC Health + Hospitals. He is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai and Adjunct Professor at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Wei has long been a champion for healthcare worker wellbeing. He founded the Helping Healers Heal (H3) Program while at LAC+USC Medical Center. The program expanded throughout the safety-net systems in Los Angeles and New York City, and now to over 40 countries, with over 100,000 healthcare workers across the globe have been trained through Project Hope. He was named in Modern Healthcare's 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives and in the Becker's Hospital Review Top 50 Patient Safety Experts.
