Precautionary Boil Advisory for Brookland Drive NE, and Wenig Road NE

The City of Cedar Rapids is issuing a Precautionary Boil Advisory to customers within the boundary listed below to boil water used for personal consumption.

Affected addresses are on Brookland Drive NE, Wenig Road NE, and one home on Falcon Drive NE. A rupture in a water main caused a loss of pressure, which has created a potential for bacteria contamination to occur.

• Brookland Drive NE: 2500, 2505, 2508, 2511, 2516, 2519, 2524, 2530, 2533, 2536, 2539, 2542, 2603, 2604, 2611, 2612, 2619, 2620, 2627, 2628, 2700, 2701, 2720, 2721, 2740, 2741, 2760, 2761, 2780, 2501
• Wenig Road NE: 3753, 3807, 3816, 3824
• 2501 Falcon Drive NE

We advise residents in the affected area to follow these steps for added protection against potential bacteria contamination in water used for consumption only:

1. Bring water to a boil,
2. Let it rapidly boil for at least 1 minute,
3. Allow to cool completely before consuming.

WATER IN ALL OTHER AREAS IS SAFE TO CONSUME.

Repairs to the system are underway. The area of the break will be repaired and flushed and follow-up testing will occur. Chlorine levels will be monitored and two consecutive sets of bacteria samples will be collected for analysis. Next anticipated update by early afternoon Friday, February 20 at which time this order will be either lifted or extended.
