Erica Berenstein Joins Times Opinion

We are thrilled to welcome Erica Berenstein back to The Times as executive producer of Opinion Video. She will lead a growing team of journalists whose original reporting and visual storytelling tackle the world's most pressing issues.

Erica returns after more than seven years at Business Insider, where she was head of video and deputy editor in chief. At B.I., Erica launched new show formats like "View From Above" and "Insider Docs," and built a video team that won multiple Emmys, Edward R. Murrow Awards, Webbys, a National Magazine Award and a Polk Award.

Erica started her career as - get this - the first ever video intern at The Times. She published her first short documentary , "Mexican New Yorkers Miss Home," on nytimes.com in 2007.

When Erica returned to Times Video, from 2012 to 2018, she reported from Gaza, embedded with the Politics team for the 2016 election and collaborated with the Business desk. She has also reported and produced stories from around the world for Agence France-Presse and worked on staff at The Wall Street Journal.

Erica teaches at Columbia University's journalism school and the School of International and Public Affairs. She designed and teaches a graduate-level course about the growing influence of viral videos and generative A.I. on world events.

Please join me in welcoming Erica back to The Times.
