D.A. Bragg Announces Indictment In Home Invasion Gunpoint Burglary Of 99-Year-Old Landlord

October 31, 2025

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., today announced the indictment of DOMINGO VASQUEZ RODRIGEZ, 39, for allegedly robbing his 99-year-old former landlord Jose Antonio Tur at gunpoint and stealing $20,000 in cash in September 2025. Mr. Tur later died. VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ is charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment with Burglary in the First Degree, Burglary in the Second Degree, and Robbery in the Second Degree, among other charges.[1]

"As alleged, Domingo Vasquez Rodriguez callously assaulted and then robbed 99-year-old Jose Antonio Tur at gunpoint before fleeing with his cash," said District Attorney Bragg. "Mr. Tur was a pillar of his community and deeply loved by his family members. I offer all those mourning his death my sincere condolences."

As alleged in court documents and according to statements made on the record, VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ was Mr. Tur's tenant in a West 187th Street apartment building, and owed Mr. Tur more than $30,000 in late rent payments. In August 2025, Mr. Tur offered VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ $8,000 to leave the apartment, and the defendant moved to Pennsylvania.

In September 2025, VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ contacted Mr. Tur's grandson and claimed he was owed more money. On September 22, 2025, at approximately 10:11 a.m., VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ drove to the apartment building and called Mr. Tur, claiming he had a package for one of the apartments. When Mr. Tur opened the basement gate, VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ pushed the gate, cutting Mr. Tur's left hand and breaking one of his fingers. VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ displayed a firearm and pressed it against Mr. Tur as he guided him to his basement office. The defendant stole $20,000 from Mr. Tur's office cabinet and fled on foot, before driving back to Pennsylvania that afternoon.

Since the alleged incident Mr. Tur suffered a stroke, and subsequently died. NYPD investigators arrested VASQUEZ RODRIGUEZ in Pennsylvania on September 27, 2025, and the Manhattan D.A.'s Office secured his extradition to New York City.
