Mosquito Season Coming, Help is On the Way

With mosquito season fast approaching, the City of Fort Morgan would like to remind residents that we contract with Vector Disease Control International for the surveillance and control of mosquitoes.

VDCI's mosquito control program is multifaceted and includes mosquito traps in each quadrant of the city to identify areas with heavy concentrations of mosquitoes; larvicide treatments on areas of standing water where mosquitoes breed and larvae hatch; and adulticide spraying to kill adult mosquitoes.

Fogging/spraying applications will be scheduled based on trap counts. This will take place between dusk and dawn, as needed, throughout the mosquito season. Weekly mosquito report/trap data can also be found on the City of Fort Morgan website at Mosquitos | Fort Morgan, CO (cityoffortmorgan.com).

Should citizens need to report any potential mosquito habitat areas (standing water), mosquito infestations, or any other mosquito-related concerns, we encourage them to call Vector Disease Control's Mosquito Control Hotline at (877)-276-4306, or visit their website at Colorado Customers.

We appreciate the residents' patience and communication in dealing with this time of year.

For more information or questions, call the Director of Community Services at (970) 370-6576.
