Mikhail Mishustin’s talks with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam

The meeting took place as part of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam's official visit to the Russian Federation.

Mikhail Mishustin: Good afternoon, comrade To Lam.

Welcome to the Government House of the Russian Federation.

I warmly remember my visit to Hanoi in January. Taking this opportunity, I would like to ask you to convey my greetings and best wishes to the President of Vietnam, comrade Luong Cuong, as well as to my counterpart, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

We are glad that you are personally attending the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This is a significant date for the peoples of Russia and Vietnam, who carefully preserve the historical memory of the heroic feat of the generation of victors.

Vietnam proclaiming independence in September 1945 was one of the important outcomes of World War II.

April 30 - just on the eve of your visit - marked the 50^th anniversary of the liberation of South Vietnam and the reunification of the country. I sincerely congratulate you and all Vietnamese citizens on this anniversary. We are rightfully proud of our country's contribution to the victory of the heroic Vietnamese nation in its struggle for freedom and independence.

On top of attending the celebrations in Moscow, you will also hold talks with President of Russia Vladimir Putin. Please note that the Russian Government will ensure that all the decisions made at the highest level are promptly executed.

Vietnam is an important partner of Russia in the Asian-Pacific region. This year, we mark the 75^th anniversary of diplomatic relations. We are interested in further promoting the comprehensive bilateral strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam.

Enhancing trade and economic cooperation and increasing mutual trade are our priorities.
