Traffic Control Next Week & Ebbetts Pass Update
Alpine County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct the following traffic controls on State Route 88 (SR-88) in Alpine County. Work is scheduled as follows:
State Route 4 / Ebbetts Pass - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has re-opened State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) as of Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Caltrans will continue to keep SR-4 / Ebbetts Pass open to the traveling public and urge motorists to watch for icy road conditions in the early morning and evening hours.
State Route 88
- Conventional moving highway from Shake Ridge Road to the California/Nevada State line for striping operations beginning Monday, October 20, through Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
