Bryan Terrell Clark will speak on "Finding Your Purpose: From Baltimore to Broadway's Hamilton" as part of the Helen Rogow Distinguished Visiting Lecturer Series. The lecture will take place Wednesday, October 22 at 5 p.m. in Wilde Auditorium.
Clark will also give a masterclass for students at The Hartt School earlier in the day.
Clark's lecture will draw on real-life lessons from his humble beginnings in Baltimore to his starring career on Broadway - most notably as George Washington in Hamilton: An American Musical.
Besides his star turns in Hamilton and Motown: The Musical, Clark has also appeared in Thoughts of a Colored Man among other roles in theatre, film, and television. As a songwriter and producer, Clark has worked with artists including Maxwell, Brandy, Ne-Yo, Anita Baker, Mary J. Blige, and Michael Bublé.
Clark fuses activism with his creative endeavors, using exposure to the arts to empower young change-makers to dream big and discover the best version of themselves.
The Helen Rogow Distinguished Visiting Lecturer Series, held each spring and fall, is devoted to bringing celebrated authors, journalists, historians, academics, and artists to the Greater Hartford region. Previous lecturers have included nationally renowned sports entrepreneurs, disability advocates, historians, and poets.
