EUMAM MOZ contributes to improving reading habits among Mozambican youth

Recently, it took place at the EUMAM MOZ facilities the donation of several literary works to the Chapateca Association. The Chapateca Association is a Mozambican Non-Governmental Organisation aimed at promoting the development of reading and writing skills among the younger population.

Through its mobile libraries, partners network and community libraries, the Association promotes access to books and information within the most disadvantaged communities in the Maputo region.

Mozambique has dozens of local languages that are spoken daily across different regions, meaning that most young people only have their first contact with the official Portuguese language when they join primary school. Therefore, access to books and manuals written in Portuguese is essential to their learning development.

This donation was made possible due to the Portuguese Guerra e Paz publisher, which made available several dozen books from its collection to be donated to Mozambican communities through EUMAM MOZ.

EUMAM MOZ thanks Guerra e Paz publisher and Chapateca Association for this collaboration, which will contribute to improving literacy and education among Mozambican youth.
