MEDIA CONTACT: Damita Chambers, [email protected], 301-832-2628 mobile (BOWIE, Md.) - A recent Bowie State University graduate is already making her mark on the fashion world with a showcase of her bold, African-inspired clothing line in the Swahili Fashion Week in Tanzania in East Africa. Angelina Mushula ('20) was one of the international designers whose fashions were featured on the run way during the Dec. 4-6 fashion and awards show, the largest fashion platforms in East and Central Africa. "This was my first international showcase," she writes on Instagram. "I have a lot more to show the world. My journey has just begun." Mushala got a strong background in fashion design and art at Bowie State. She was one of 13 graduates in the spring 2020 semester whose artwork was displayed online as part of Bowie State's inaugural Virtual Senior Art Exhibition, which also allowed her fashions to be featured to BMoreArt magazine. In fall 2020, she was commissioned for a public art display at Bowie State, designing, fabricating and installing a university-branded mask for the Bulldog mascot statue in a COVID-19 public health campaign.
