SHARC Reopens, Spa Pool Remains Closed

Shute Park Aquatic & Recreation Center (SHARC) is welcoming members back on Monday, September 15 after its annual maintenance closure. The closure allows time for critical repairs and upgrades, helping ensure this beloved Hillsboro facility remains a vibrant space for health, wellness, and community connection.

Highlights of the recent work and improvements include:

  • Updates to the all-gender changing room showers
  • New benches and a repaired heater in the sauna
  • Upgrades to the automatic door openers
  • Annual maintenance of all equipment and systems A thorough, top-to-bottom cleaning of the facility

While most areas are ready for use, the spa pool will remain closed through fall. During maintenance, staff investigated a known structural leak which ended up being more significant than anticipated. The spa pool will have to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Though the spa pool project is still underway, SHARC is open and ready for community members to return to their favorite activities, from lap swimming to group fitness classes to swim lessons and coffee in the lobby.
