Employee Highlight – Tala El Anouti

Tala El Anouti

Analyst of Policy & Power Markets

Give us a brief overview of your role.

I am a Policy and Power Markets Analyst at GSI. In this role, I track energy policy, incentive programs, and Integrated Resource Plans across both US and Canadian markets to translate them into actionable revenue stacks for our solar and energy storage projects. My day-to-day responsibilities cover everything from monitoring state legislation and utility-level programs to building revenue estimates, supporting off-take outreach, and preparing responses for Requests for Proposals.

What is the most memorable moment you have had working for GSI?

I have two major highlights during my time at GSI. The first was transitioning from an intern into my full-time role, which was an exciting milestone for me. The second was attending the Concordia Annual Summit in New York City this past September. As my very first professional conference, I was initially a bit nervous, but it proved to be an incredible experience. Getting the chance to hear global leaders discuss the future of the energy transition while exploring the city and connecting in person with my colleagues made it truly memorable.

What led you to a career in energy policy and market analysis and what have you found rewarding from working in the renewables sector?

My background is in electrical engineering, with a focus on power and energy systems, and I've always been deeply interested in sustainability and how energy shapes communities. What drew me toward energy policy and power markets was realizing that technology is only half the equation, whether a clean energy project gets built often comes down to policy incentives and market rules. I love that my role sits right at the intersection where those technical and regulatory worlds meet. What I find most rewarding is taking a new policy initiative or utility program and translating it into concrete insights that directly guide where our team builds our next projects. Being able to help bring a renewable energy project to life from that very first conceptual step all the way through to execution is incredibly fulfilling.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know.

Alongside my full-time work at GSI, I am currently pursuing a master's degree through Arizona State University. Balancing graduate coursework with a full-time career requires a lot of discipline, but the two complement each other seamlessly and allow me to continuously deepen my technical knowledge.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I am a huge sports fan, especially when it comes to soccer. I've been a passionate supporter of FC Barcelona since I was a kid. Lately, I've also been following women's basketball closely watching teams like the New York Liberty during their playoff runs and keeping up with the launch of the Golden State Valkyries.

What is one thing you'd like to cross off your bucket list?

Seeing the Northern Lights in person is right at the top of my bucket list. I would love to plan a winter trip to Iceland or Norway to experience the aurora borealis firsthand.
