Pasadena Water and Power Launches Solar and Battery Rebate Pilot Program for Residential and Commercial Customers

PASADENA, Calif.- Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is launching a pilot program offering new rebates for residential and commercial solar installations and battery storage, making it easier and more affordable for PWP customers to adopt clean, reliable energy. These incentives support the City's goal to achieve 100% carbon-free electricity by the end of 2030, while optimizing for affordability, rate equity, stability, and reliability.

"Installing a rooftop solar system is an environmentally responsible way for PWP customers to reduce energy use, support Pasadena's clean energy goals, and lower their utility bills," said General Manager David Reyes. "We hope these new rebates, along with PWP's other popular incentives, encourage even more customers to adopt these proven technologies."

Eligible PWP residential electric customers can receive a rebate of $0.60 per watt for the purchase and installation of a new, permanent rooftop solar system, or for the expansion of an existing system. Customers enrolled in one of PWP's income-qualified bill assistance programs are eligible for a rebate of $1.00 per watt. Battery energy storage incentives are also available and offer up to $550 per kilowatt-hour.

Qualifying commercial customers may receive rebates of up to $80,000 per meter for installing new, permanent rooftop solar systems or expanding existing systems. Tiered rebates for battery energy storage are also available up to $80,000 per meter.

To further encourage the adoption of these technologies, PWP will not charge plan review and inspection fees for solar and battery systems during the pilot program. This applies only to PWP-related solar and battery project costs. Structural, Building & Safety, meter, and other non-energy related fees may still apply.
