On Thursday, November 6, over 30 members of the Outdoor Painters Society, also known as OPS, will be showcasing their work at an art gallery reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the City's Public Art Gallery located in the lobby of the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center. The public is invited to attend.
During the week, OPS members from all over the state will be painting some of the most scenic places in League City and the Galveston Bay Area as part of "Paint the Bay Area: A Plein Air Event." Plein air is a French phrase meaning "in the open air," and it refers to the practice of painting outdoors with the subject in full view.
Each artist will be contributing three plein air paintings to be a part of the League City exhibit, which will remain on display at the Civic Center until the end of January 2026. All paintings will be available for purchase.
