On the Hill: Association Feedback on 340B, Health Care Cybersecurity

Last week, the Senate passed the bipartisan Health Care Cybersecurity and Resilience Act of 2026 by unanimous consent. The legislation aims to help health care providers strengthen their cybersecurity defenses and protect patient information. While America's Essential Hospitals appreciates the cybersecurity grants for nonprofits hospitals, there are other measures of reporting in the act that place a disproportionate burden on essential hospitals. We will continue to hold discussions with Sen. Cassidy and others as we try to improve the bill text as it moves through the process.

Senate 340B Legislation

America's Essential Hospitals recently provided feedback on the Senate 340B Bipartisan Working Group's Strengthening Transparency, Accountability, and Integrity Now and for the Future of (SUSTAIN) 340B Act. The association's comments praised certain provisions, including a reiteration of congressional intent around upfront discounts, but urged against transparency and integrity requirements that may inadvertently limit patient access or impose burdens that would affect essential hospitals. We look forward to further discussion on the SUSTAIN 340B Act with all six offices in the working group.

Committee Activity This Week

The House and Senate are both adjourned until after the midterm elections.
