Celebrate the staff who keep Edmonton moving on Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day

March 18, 2026

On March 18, the City of Edmonton observes National Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day. Join the City in recognizing and celebrating the important role transit workers play in supporting mobility by connecting hundreds of thousands of riders to their destinations each day.

Every day of the year, City employees help Edmontonians reach their destinations safely, conveniently and reliably, whether by driving buses and trains, performing maintenance and repairs or working to enhance the transit experience.

"We thank our operators, workers and service partners - including those providing service on conventional buses, LRT, DATS and On Demand transit - for committing to quality, positively engaging with riders and providing continued feedback to the branch. All of these factors contribute to a more positive experience for our riders," said Carrie Hotton-MacDonald, Branch Manager, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS).

Many staff work behind the scenes to keep Edmontonians moving, including planners and schedulers, dispatchers, inspectors, mechanics and instructors within ETS, as well as cleaners and heavy-duty mechanics in the Fleet and Facility Services branch, and many others.

Members of the public can show their appreciation by adding the hashtag #ThanksTransit to social media posts. Visit
