Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna Hosts a Thematic Event on the Global Governance Initiative and the Launch[...]

On April 28, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Vienna hosted a thematic event on the Global Governance Initiative and the launch ceremony of the Vienna Chapter of the Group of Friends of Global Governance at the Vienna International Centre. Over 130 participants attended the event, including Permanent Representatives from more than 40 countries, as well as representatives of relevant international organizations and think tanks.

Ambassador LI Song hosted the event and delivered a keynote address. He noted that President Xi Jinping solemnly proposed the Global Governance Initiative, which is highly consistent with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, reflects the trend of the times, and embodies the shared aspiration of the international community. The Vienna Group of Friends aims to promote exchanges and cooperation among Member States, actively advance the five core concepts of the Global Governance Initiative, work together to reinvigorate, safeguard and strengthen the UN, and contribute to building a more just and equitable global governance system.

Participants spoke actively, expressing strong recognition of and support for the Initiative. They looked forward to enhancing communication and coordination under the Group of Friends to build broader consensus and jointly advance the reform and development of the global governance system.
