DALLAS - Six seniors from Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School are heading to some of the nation's most selective colleges after earning full four-year scholarships through the highly competitive QuestBridge program. As first-generation college students, their achievements reflect years of perseverance, mentorship, and a strong college-going culture that begins early at Rangel.

New teachers celebrated with award grants
Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy will receive a visit from United to Learn at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, to surprise five first-year Dallas ISD educators with New Teacher Support Grants. With funding from the College Football Playoff Foundation and other donors, the initiative helps reduce out-of-pocket costs by supporting teachers' DonorsChoose projects and strengthening classroom learning environments.

Young students strive to make an impact
The Kindness Squad, an after-school group for kindergarten through second grade students at Hogg New Tech Center, will host a donation drive for the Dallas Animal Shelter during morning drop-off from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13. With guidance from their sponsor, the students are driving the donation efforts themselves as part of their annual community project - showing how even the youngest learners can make a big impact through kindness and service.

Skyline High School students prepare for Valentine's Day rush
Valentine's Day is one of the busiest times for florists, and Skyline High School students are getting a firsthand look at the holiday rush. Floral design students are preparing for their biggest sale of the year, creating custom arrangements and balloon decor for the community. The event provides hands-on business experience - from design and pricing to marketing and sales - with proceeds supporting future projects. The sale will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13.
