The San Mateo County Parks Department continues pest management activity to reduce the population of ground squirrels in Flood Park in coordination with U.S. Department of Agriculture staff.
The next round of management activity requires a one-day closure of the park on Wednesday, April 30. All facilities, including the bike pump track, multi-use field, sports courts, and walking paths will be closed the entire day. The park is schedule to reopen Thursday, May 1.
These techniques are safe to the public, domesticated animals, and non-targeted wildlife outside of burrows. No poison will be used. All treatment methods are conducted in accordance with the USDA and American Veterinary Medical Association standards. San Mateo County Park and USDA staff will be present while work is conducted.
