TÜV Rheinland Co-hosts Welding Operation Safety Management Seminar to Enhance Industry Risk Control and Emergency Preparedness

TÜV Rheinland Hong Kong, together with the Hong Kong Institute of Safety Practitioners (HKISP), successfully hosted the online seminar "Welding Operation Safety Management, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQ) & Welder Examination Safety Emergency Seminar" on the evening of 21 January 2026. This seminar attracted safety practitioners, construction and engineering professionals, and management personnel from related industries. The event served as an effective technical exchange platform, focusing on practical risk management strategies for welding operations and reinforcing industry awareness of occupational safety responsibilities.

As the keynote speaker from TÜV Rheinland, Patricia Kuang, Senior Executive of Greater China Industrial Services& Cybersecurity and National Registered Safety Engineer, delivered a presentation titled "Welding Operation Safety Management."

Drawing on her extensive experience in industrial safety management and risk assessment, Patricia provided a comprehensive overview of safety risks commonly encountered during welding and hot work operations. Her presentation covered key areas including workplace environment management, equipment and electrical safety, fire and explosion prevention, personal protective equipment requirements, and emergency preparedness.

Through real-case examples, Patricia highlighted high-risk points such as electrical insulation failure, inadequate ventilation, improper hot work control, and insufficient fire prevention measures. She outlined practical control measures including pre-work equipment inspection, classified hot work permit management, on-site supervision, and post-work fire monitoring, offering clear and actionable guidance for frontline operations.

The session emphasized the importance of implementing a structured safety management approach that integrates standardized operating procedures, qualified personnel, and effective emergency response planning. By aligning regulatory requirements with practical site operations, the presentation supported organizations in improving their ability to identify, assess, and control welding-related risks.

By sharing international best practices and practical safety management experience, TÜV Rheinland continues to assist organizations in strengthening occupational health and safety standards and promoting sustainable, high-quality industry development.
