Team,
Today I am announcing that I will be leaving Business Insider.
This was not an easy decision for me. I love Business Insider. I love being here with you every day, figuring things out, building, and forging the future together. But more broadly, we're at a moment where there's massive change driven by technology, which also means massive opportunity. And for a techie builder like me, that's an irresistible pull.
When I'm interviewing executives, I always ask, "What's your favorite part of your day?" It's a question that reveals what gives someone joy - what motivates them and what's in their heart.
So, what's my favorite part of my day? You. You have been the absolute best part of this job.
It has been an incredible privilege to work alongside you, and I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead this company. Media and journalism have faced enormous challenges during my time as CEO, and I've only ever known operating in this environment. But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I'm hugely proud of what we've accomplished together.
Every impossible decision, every late night, every weekend, every vacation interruption - I did it because I believe in what we were building. I believe in this company in my bones. And because I genuinely love spending my time with all of you.
Just a few years ago, we were Insider, covering everything. Today, we have a clear identity, focus, and audience. We are Business Insider again - focused on the most important stories in business, tech, and innovation, serving a distinct audience, and embracing AI to build new kinds of experiences.
That transformation took enormous courage, resilience, boldness, and skill. What you've accomplished over the last three years is remarkable.
Please continue to be bold and brave.
I know it can feel safer or more comfortable to resist change and hope things stay the same. But they won't stay the same - and they shouldn't. The future of Business Insider, and the future of journalism itself, depends on embracing what's next. And if any team can do that, it's this one.
I'll continue operating day-to-day through June 30 and will help however I can during the transition. As part of the transition, Christian Baesler will be stepping in as interim lead of Business Insider.
And after June - and always - I'm here for you if I can ever help.
Thank you for everything. I am rooting for you all, always.
Barbara
