A portion of Pensacola Beach Road approaching the southbound Bob Sikes Bridge will experience an overnight lane closure beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 while crews make repairs to the interior lane guardrail.
Traffic will be diverted through a one-way lane closure during the work period. Drivers traveling south on Pensacola Beach Road toward Pensacola Beach should use extra caution and follow road crew instructions and posted signs when traveling through the work zone. The road is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, weather permitting.
The guardrail repair is part of the Bob Sikes Bridge Fender and Guardrail Rehabilitation Project, which includes replacement of damaged or missing fender system beams, and replacement of damaged sections of the approach guardrail on the southbound bridge. The project is expected to be completed in early 2026.
If other roadway closures are necessary or work is delayed, another notice will be issued.
