Four Honda models have earned TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) or better ratings for 2026 from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The all-new 2026 Passport and Honda HR-V earned the pinnacle TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) with top ratings from IIHS in crashworthiness evaluations, pedestrian front crash prevention, and no less than acceptable ratings in the new updated vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention evaluation and headlight performance. Along with the Accord and Civic, all four Honda models achieved the top GOOD score in the Institute's rigorous small overlap front crash test, updated moderate overlap front crash test, as well as the updated side crash test which involves 82% more crash energy than the original test.
Based on the company's longstanding "Safety for Everyone" approach, a commitment to advance safety for everyone sharing the road, Honda has achieved top safety ratings from IIHS for its most affordable vehicles, including gateway models Civic and HR-V, and the Accord. The average transaction price for new gas-powered Civic and Accord models and HR-V is lower than the industry average transaction price for used vehicles.
Every new Honda model is equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies that includes a Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
Honda has installed Honda Sensing® in more than 10 million vehicles in the U.S. since the suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies was introduced in 2014.
The Honda Civic, Accord, HR-V and Passport also benefit from the Honda proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, designed to help protect occupants in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems, such as front seatbelt pretensioners, and front, side, knee and side-curtain airbags.
In addition to IIHS testing, every Honda model that has been fully evaluated in the NHTSA's 2024 and 2025 model year NCAP testing has received a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score1.

Honda Commitment to Safety
Honda is committed to further advancing safety for everyone sharing the road, which is captured in the Honda global safety slogan "Safety for Everyone." The company has established a global goal to achieve zero fatalities from traffic collisions involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050. To achieve this goal, Honda is expanding its focus beyond advanced safety and driver assistive technologies alone, to include efforts to augment driver awareness, modify driver behavior and improve the traffic safety ecosystem by working with government, industry and community partners.
Honda operates two of the world's most sophisticated crash-test facilities in Ohio and Japan, and is responsible for numerous pioneering efforts in crashworthiness, collision compatibility and pedestrian safety.
Advanced passive safety features include the proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure and next-generation driver and passenger front airbag technology, which are designed to provide a high level of collision protection for occupants. Advanced active safety and driver-assistive systems found in Honda Sensing® and AcuraWatch™ technologies, now on over 9.5 million vehicles on U.S. roads, are designed to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions while also serving as a technological and perceptual bridge to the more highly automated vehicles of the future.
